Update 2-6-13

Good Afternoon;

EMS Consultant group participated in discussions today with the potential strike client.  During this conversation the client stated that while they still feel a strike is likely, they would prefer not to commit to relief labor at this time.  The client was advised that adequate notice is required to provide appropriate man power for such an event and they appear to understand the risks of not committing at this time.  As such, we are standing down from our state of readiness.

First, I’d like to thank all of the EMT’s and Paramedics who responded to this request for service.  Confronting our fellow EMS workers on labor issues is a brave move in anyone’s book.  The other side of the coin is that the community in question needs the service to exist. I’d like to think that it’s this desire to serve that drives the best of us to do what we do.  My sincere “Thank You.”

Second; unless anyone has an objection, there is still a possibility that this or another service will request labor relief.  We will maintain the email list we compiled and notify everyone if service is requested from this or a similar client in the future.  Please feel free to refer providers interested in this type of short term assignment.  If anyone cares to check in from time to time, that would be fine as well.  Use the email Management@emsconsultantgroup.com.

Again, thank you for your continued support and be safe out there.

Sincerely;

Update 2-3-13

EMS Consultant Group  is compiling a list of EMT’s, paramedics and critical care paramedics, who would be willing to relocate for short term assignments in the Eastern United States to provide labor support for a large EMS system during a coordinated work stoppage (strike).

Providers must have the following:

1)  Current or very recent 911 experience.

2)  Valid certification at their reported level of training.

3)  Valid nationally accepted professional level CPR.

4)  Advanced providers must have valid nationally accepted ACLS and a pediatric credential.

5)  A clean criminal and child abuse history, a clean medical command record and no record of discipline on their state or national credentialing record.

6)   National Registry certification is preferred.

7)   EVOC or equivalent emergency vehicle operators training and a clean driving record are required.

In the event of activation accepted providers would be relocated at the expense of the company and provided housing and a meal allowance.  Assignments are one (1) week in duration, shifts are twelve (12) hours in length and are overtime eligible.  Malpractice insurance is provided.  Providers may review for additional one week assignments if the labor stoppage persists.  Providers accepted for a one week assignment will receive a minimum of one weeks pay if the assignment is terminated early due to termination of the labor stoppage.  Salary is not yet finalized but providers can expect at approximately 150% of the average pay rate in their area or origin.

Interested parties should send an email with their contact information to management@emsconsultantgroup.com Please put “Strike Relief” as the subject.  Include your name, contact information and certification level.  Resumes may be sent as well and will be required at a future date.
